Hello, it’s Koharu 🐰🩷
My last date in July was in Kyoto 🍵✨
My boyfriend was visiting Japan during his vacation,
and surprisingly, he found me just the day before.
We ended up meeting the very next day for a spontaneous date!
Neither of us had eaten anything since the morning,
so our first stop was an onigiri cafe 🍙
The cafe was inside a traditional old Japanese house.
After climbing a very steep staircase,
we found a cozy space
that felt just like a grandmar’s home 😌🩷
It was still early, and there were no other customers,
so we had the sofa seating area almost entirely to ourselves.
While relaxing there, I talked about all kinds of things with my boyfriend, whom I had only just met.
He is studying a highly specialized subject that is far too difficult for me to understand,
and he is also working hard in another country.
I honestly think that is amazing 👏
Seeing him continue to work hard while balancing
both his studies and his job
made me respect him even more.
He also inspired me to work harder myself ✨
After filling our stomachs,
we headed to Fushimi Inari Taisha ⛩️
We drew omikuji fortune slips together
and walked through the rows of countless torii gates.
There were many people,
and it was extremely hot,
but as we continued farther into the mountain,
there were more trees and shaded areas,
so it gradually became a little cooler 🎐
Along the way,
we found the bell he had been looking for
and walked along paths surrounded by nature.
It was very peaceful and relaxing ✨
He told me that, in the future,
he would like to live somewhere quiet
and peaceful with lots of nature.
As we walked together along the calm mountain path,
we talked about his grandmother’s home and my hometown.
I really enjoyed that peaceful time together 🌳
After walking so much,
we had matcha anmitsu 🍵
I absolutely love traditional Japanese sweets,
so I was very happy!
After that, we decided to visit Nishiki Market!
The weather was beautiful that day,
but the temperature was very high,
so we naturally found ourselves heading into a café.
He had some refreshing shaved ice,
while I had a doughnut 🍩🍧
Every time we ate something delicious,
we said “itadakimasu” before eating
and “gochisousama” after finishing together.
It made me strangely happy that he joined me
in saying these Japanese greetings at mealtimes 🤍
At the end of our date,
we unexpectedly decided to visit a fortune-teller 🔮
I had told him that I had gone for a fortune-telling session the day before,
so he said that he wanted to try it too.
The fortune-teller could immediately tell that
he was intelligent just by looking at his hands📖👐
Even though I had only just met him,
I had already noticed how kind he was
and how naturally calm and comfortable I felt when I was with him.
Then the fortune-teller also said,
“This person is very kind and has the ability to make others feel safe and relaxed.”
Hearing that made me happy too,
because I thought, “I knew it!” 🤍
By the way, I translated what the fortune-teller said from Japanese into English,
but I was only able to explain about half of it.
Because of that, I probably know more
about his fortune, love life, and future than he does himself😆
It was hard to believe that
he had only found me the day before,
because we were able to talk so naturally from the very beginning.
I learned so much about him,
and it was such a fun day.
Thank you so much for coming to see me 🤍
When you come back to Japan,
let’s go to a fireworks festival together
and eat super delicious sushi 🎆🍣
